BBC - Science Human Body

BBC - Science Human Body

Great for high school teachers, this BBC site includes games, facts and figures, brilliant diagrams and lots of fun quizzes. The Puberty simulation is a must see!!

Some quizzes could work with adult English learners including "What sex is your brain?" and is also good for research on health related hot topics such as "Cannabis" "GM foods" and "animal testing"

If you use it with ESL students let me know how

BBC NEWS | Entertainment | TV and Radio | Dyke to open up BBC archive

BBC NEWS | Entertainment | TV and Radio | Dyke to open up BBC archive

While everyone else is talking about how to make money from their online content the BBC announced this week that they will be offering free access to their TV and radio program archives sometime in the future (date not given).

I can imagine ways of using this material with ESL learners in a well set up computer lab.... Considering how many people use the BBC to keep up their English skills it will be a great resource for students when they return to their homes.

Let's hope they don't change their minds!

Google adds a calculator function

ResearchBuzz News -- August 7 - August 13, 2003

Well this certainly beats trying to work out how to use my mobile phone's offering!
Check the article for some examples of exactly how this option works. Maths has never been one of
my strong points so I am not going to go into examples, although I noticed it does conversions i.e.
how many teaspoons in a tablespoon or pounds into kg's etc....

Werff- Using Pictures from Magazines in ESL Classes (I-TESL-J)

The lastest issue of the I-TESL-J was published today. Included is an article on using pictures in ESL classes. Thought it might give some new (and remind you of some older) ideas for using the great picture file in the library.

ForeignFilms.com

I love this site... search for movies by genre, language and country (there are 180 Australian films listed). The films are rated for popularity and include plot summaries and reviews.
You (or your students) can submit your own reviews after completing a short (free) registration.
