Why blog?

If you are not sure whether blogging could work with your students, check out Edublog insights's article on how and why blogging can improve writing fluency . It clearly points out the benefits of blogging (i.e. reflect on current and prior learning, writing for an audience). Blogging also encourages critical thinking, requiring writers to think about things they read and how they feel about them.

Perhaps your students could investigate this topic..... A study that compared online habits in UK, Germany and France.

I came across the article by Aaron Patric Campbell on suggestions for using blogs with langauge learners. As well as describing exactly what a blog is for the uninitiated, it gives 3 detailed examples of ways to use blogs with students. The links and references are worth checking out even for those who are not new to this tool.



Well I have spent the last 5 weeks studying blogging and how its being used by various groups so I thought it was about time I tried it out :-)

I will post things here that I think will be useful to ESL teachers, particularly those using computers and the internet in their teaching.
